- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before inverting them onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, frost with your favorite frosting and decorate as desired.

Notes
For a richer flavor, use buttermilk instead of whole milk. You can also add lemon zest for a subtle citrus hint. This cake pairs wonderfully with buttercream, cream cheese frosting, or fresh berries and whipped cream.
