Baked Apple Fritters: A Deliciously Easy Treat

Indulge your sweet tooth with these irresistible Baked Apple Fritters!

    Ingredients

    Scale
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
    • 1 large egg
    • 2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • For the glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Instructions

    1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), salt, and granulated sugar until well combined.

    3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, combine the milk, applesauce, egg, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.

    4. Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the diced apples, being careful not to overmix.

    5. Shape the Fritters: Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop heaping tablespoons of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

    6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the fritters are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

    7. Prepare the Glaze: While the fritters are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.

    8. Drizzle and Serve: Once the fritters are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly. Drizzle the sweet glaze over the warm fritters before serving.

    Notes

Pro Tip: For an extra touch, sprinkle some additional cinnamon on top of the glaze while it’s still wet!
