Ingredients
Scale
- 4 slices of bread (your choice: white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
- 4 slices of mozzarella cheese (or your favorite cheese)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup pepperoni slices (or your choice of toppings like bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp butter (softened)
- Optional: Italian seasoning or garlic powder (for extra flavor)
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread: Spread a thin layer of softened butter on one side of each slice of bread. This will help achieve a golden, crispy crust.
- Assemble the Sandwich: In a skillet over medium heat, place two slices of bread, buttered side down. Layer with mozzarella cheese, a few spoonfuls of pizza sauce, pepperoni slices (or other toppings), and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
- Cook the Sandwich: Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side, pressing down gently with a spatula to ensure even cooking and melting of the cheese.
- Check for Doneness: Once both sides are golden brown and the cheese is melted, remove the sandwich from the skillet. Allow it to cool for a minute before slicing.
- Serve: Cut the sandwich in half and serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping. Enjoy your cheesy Pizza Grilled Cheese!
Notes
- Additional Tips: Customize your Pizza Grilled Cheese with a variety of toppings such as spinach, diced tomatoes, or different cheese blends for added flavor.
- Storage: Best enjoyed fresh, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet or toaster oven for best results.
- Freezer-Friendly: This sandwich is not recommended for freezing, as the bread may become soggy when reheated.
